Introducing Rishi Kumar, our next County Assessor

When the pandemic broke out…

…I mobilized the calling of 86,000 seniors, helping them by delivering groceries, medications and N95 masks.

When the Saratoga city council proposed a parcel tax…

…I stood alone as the dissenting vote—pushing instead for efficiency. The tax was ultimately shelved!

I am the only candidate in this race who is Against Measure A and against the sales tax hike that is on the November 4 ballot.

When seniors were hurting because of San Jose Water Company’s many rate hikes…

…I pushed back and defeated nine rate hikes.

When my city experienced a spike in burglaries…

…I held over a hundred neighborhood meetings that eventually reduced burglaries by almost 50%.

When residents expressed dismay at the natural gas appliance ban…

….I engaged the press, launched a petition and articulated clear reasons to reverse the ban

When seniors were frustrated with the  PG&E bill skyrocketing…

…I organized our community and pushed back.

ABOUT RISHI

Rishi Kumar is a Silicon Valley hi-tech executive, valley CFO, author and educator running to be your next Santa Clara County (Property Tax) Assessor.

As a Saratoga councilmember, he was elected with the highest vote count in Saratoga’s 70 year history. He has served on California Governor’s University of California’ Regents Selection Committee. He has also served on California’s K-12 public school computer science implementation panel – responsible for the Computer Science curriculum in K-12.

Rishi has been elected and served multiple terms as the Executive Board and Delegate to the California Democratic Party. He brings tech industry experience and a track record of people-centric public service. Rishi and Seema are proud parents, raising two boys with strong values and big dreams.

Rishi fights for the people and brings common sense thinking

Rishi believes in fiscally moderate, result-driven problem-solving approaches as a political leader. As an immigrant and an engineer working for IBM, Rishi found his calling as an activist stepping up for complex community challenges that he couldn’t ignore.

As a councilmember of Saratoga, he challenged the system, unafraid to be the dissenting vote, and focused his energy on the tough community challenges. He led efforts to reject many of San Jose Water Company’s water rate increases that benefited a million residents of Silicon Valley, reduced burglaries – the largest reduction compared to any other Silicon Valley city, and stopped a potential 300-room hotel mega development project on a hillside in a high fire hazard zone. When a road tax was proposed by fellow city councilmembers, he stood alone in opposition—advocating instead for budget optimization to fund road repairs without raising taxes. His principled stand gained traction, and the council ultimately scrapped the road tax proposal.

Rishi brings a people-centric platform and a track record of getting-things-done to politics.

Stories of a Maverick

I fight for YOUR interests, not Special Interests and believe everyone should get an opportunity at the American Dream. I started as a community activist first, and I will remain so, no matter what elected office I hold. Read my stories below.

Rishi’s unique approach as a political leader focuses on innovative solutions delivering significant results: reductions in crime, lower taxes, rejection of many of San Jose Water Company’s proposed rate increases, and a steadfast challenge to the inadequacies of PG&E. He will always place the needs of his constituents first with commonsense and pragmatism.
